Mining in the age of digital life

The first digital mining conference and Expo was held at Tehran’s Olympic Hotel on Monday, September 13th, 2022.

The speakers of this conference mentioned the three challenges facing the country in the digital transformation of the mining sector as “development of new infrastructures”, “development of databases” and “Educational development and technology promotion”.

Ebrahim Jamili (Chairman of the Mines and Mining Industries Commission of Iran Chamber) was one of the speakers of this conference. He considered the industrial intelligence along with social responsibility as the fields in which the chamber is engaged to create a culture.

The head of the Iranian Chamber of Mines and Mining Industries Commission pointed to four important sectors of smart mining, which include: robotics, automation, data collection, augmented reality, and 3D printing. He emphasized all these sectors are important and one does not have priority over the other.

Mr. Jamili, while referring to the large-scale migration of skilled workers in the mining sector, predicted a serious problem in the next one or two years. He further emphasized: “We have a high rank in the safety sector which needs to be protected so that the progress of Iranian youth as well as the best possible growth and development of the mining industry will be facilitated.”

In this conference, speakers such as Omid Asghari (Conference Secretary of Digital Mining, Head of Unidro and Faculty Member of School of Mining Engineering of University of Tehran), Soroush Fouladchi (Manager of Knowledge Development Department of Donya-e-Eqtesad Media Group), Mohammad Azizollahi (CEO of System Group Co.), Iraj Rokhsati (CEO of Esfahan Steel Company) and Mojtaba Hamidian (CEO of Iran Central Iron Ore Company) gave speeches.
