1- Which category (ideas or start-up business) must your application be submitted?

Ideators:

If you want to implement your idea and meet the following conditions, you must register your idea in the ideators section:

  • If you own an idea or ideas (in different fields of basic sciences), including any typecreation, using new knowledge, or using existing knowledge in a new way. Your idea is in one of the following development stages: initial idea, scientific and laboratory evaluation, or approved laboratory sample

Start-up business:

If you meet the following requirements, you should submit your idea in the start-up section:

  • Any new official or unofficial business (including) emerging entrepreneurs or owners of a new business) with already fewer than 42 months of work experience (three and a half years)
  • Having a prototype or MVP (required)
  • A cohesive and efficient team, including the expertise required by the startup

2- What are the steps for registering a proposal on the festival website?

  1. Log in to the festival site and select the registration icon
  1. “Sign in” in the festival registration system (for new applicants). Applicants of the previous festivals must “log in” to the system using their email and password. In case of forgetting the password or desire for the password change, proceed from the forgetting the password section.
  1. Log in to your profile and select a group (Ideators – Start-up Business)
  2. Register your personal/ educational / job details
  3. Register the details of all team members
  4. Record additional information (technical or methodology description of the project) on the idea.
  5. Upload files related to idea documentation
  6. Final approval

3- What is the additional information file that must be uploaded?

The so-called technical description or methodology file is format free. It describes how the project is going to implement, or in other words, the scientific methodology of the project, in which the steps are explained, should be uploaded in detail in this section. Adding steps in the form of a flowchart or table is also recommended. If there is a product sample, the steps to achieve it, a photo, or a detailed map should be provided. Any additional information on how to implement the idea can be included in this file.

4- How to ensure the final registration of your idea?

After entering your profile in the registration system, you can see the process of registering your idea in the “My Idea / Design Status” section. If the idea’s status is “Initial Review,” your idea has been finalized; otherwise, you will see the “Not yet submitted” option. You will also receive a text message and email after the final registration.

5- Can the information be edited and changed the uploaded file after the final registration?

No, editing information is not possible after the final submission.

6- How will the technical and business arbitration be in the 6th YSF?

Expert referees will evaluate all projects in both sections. The judges’ average score will be considered for ranking the application to enter the interview stage.

7- After submission, if the applicant does not have one of the required documents, can it be provided later, or will it be eliminated from the competition?

Any idea that fails to provide the required documentation within the announced deadline will be excluded from the screening phase.

8- Can startup companies participate in this festival?

Yes, if startup companies have ideas related to one of the basic science fields and have had less than 48-month activity, they can register in the start-up business section of the YSF website.

9- Can an idea be registered in the festival if it is patented?

Yes, suppose an idea is officially registered in the form of a patent or other registration forms. In that case, it is still possible for the participation in the festival to implement or develop the idea.

10- Can the previous Young Scientists Festivals ideators participate in the current festival?

Ideators from previous years are encouraged to apply again if they have a different idea or substantially improved application.

11- How can we trust the festival to maintain ownership of our idea?

According to the festival’s ethical code, the commitment to non-disclosure of participants’ proposals has been signed by the YSF judges and all those involved in the festival. Any disclosure or reference to the ideas submitted to the festival is prohibited.

12- What is the deadline for submitting ideas? Will the deadline be extended?

The deadline for submitting the idea is in the middle of September each year, and this date will not be extended.

13- How will the festival support the finalists?

The finalists will first be introduced to the accelerator to go through the pre-acceleration steps and be able to design their business plan. Then, with the guidance of specialized mentors, they will produce a prototype product so that they can prepare their product to enter the market. Finally, they will be introduced to the investor to develop their product and service.

14- Is there an age limit for team members?

According to the festival, young people refer to people over 18 years old and under 44 years old, so all participants must be at least 18 years old, and the main ideator responsible for the team must be under 44 years old.

15- Would engaging the general public in the festival be possible?

Yes – the attendance at the festival is freely open to the public.

16- If the applicant category (ideators or start-ups) is incorrect during registration, is it possible to change the selected group?

Yes, the applicant can correct the team member details after sending a request to the festival office (info@ysf_persia.com).

17- Is there a limit on the application number by a single person?

  • In this section, the same person can be a member of up to four groups.
  • Teams must have a sample product (MVP) to be able to register in this section.

18- How many ideas can each person or team register in the festival system?

Each team can submit four different ideas to the festival.

19- Can the completed information be saved on each system page?

At the end of each page,  the option “Save and next page” saves the inserted information.

20- How can you be aware of all the application processes for the festival?

Easily by reading the festival participation guide, participants can be aware of all the festival stages. Participants should read the guide before submitting their idea.

21- Should the proposed idea be completely new?

The idea’s base should be relatively innovative and not necessarily entirely new, and it should have a basic science foundation that can be applied.
