Young Scientists Festival Executives Meet with Leaders of Scientific Associations in Basic Sciences

The executives of the Young Scientists Festival (YSF) recently attended in a Think-Tank meeting with the leaders and representatives of the scientific associations of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The meeting, held on January 3rd, 2024, at the Shahid Mofateh Hall of the Ministry, was attended by Dr. Peyman Salehi, the Research Deputy of the Ministry, and Dr. Ali Iranmanesh, the Secretary of the Commission of the Iranian Scientific Associations.

During the meeting, Dr. Nasser Gholami, the head of the YSF Planning & Management Committee, provided a comprehensive overview of the festival’s goals and initiatives. Furthermore, Dr. Gholami emphasized the YSF’s extensive history of engaging in various activities over the years.

Dr. Gholami also mentioned that the 7th YSF took place in December of the previous year. The head of the YSF Planning & Management Committee, further stated that the YSF has been officially integrated into the programs of Research and Technology Week, underscoring the crucial contribution of YSF in promoting the field of basic sciences.

Throughout the meeting, representatives of the scientific associations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology shared their perspectives and recommendations.

To expand the YSF’s presence at both national and international levels, the representatives of the MSRT scientific associations put forth several suggestions. These suggestions include expanding international activities, particularly focusing on neighboring countries, supporting the publication of outstanding books and journals in the field of basic sciences, promoting the establishment of science houses, collaborating with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and developing a program to introduce basic sciences to a wider audience. Additionally, they recommended creating a documentary that explores the oral history of basic sciences in Iran, and enhancing YSF student section to further engage students in its activities.

In his address, Engineer Ebrahim Jamili, the President of YSF Policy making Council, expressed sincere gratitude to the meeting participants and emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between YSF and scientific associations.

Eng. Jamili drew attention to the significance of basic sciences in the country’s progress, highlighting their relevance in everyday life through media outlets.

Regarding the YSF objective of serving to the country’s youth, the President of YSF Policy making Council expressed the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation’s support for establishing science houses and documenting the oral history of basic sciences. The foundation aims to recognize and motivate both young individuals and experienced professionals in these scientific domains.

In his closing remarks, Eng. Jamili announced that, for the first time, the exhibition of the YSF winners will be held in the National Consultative Assembly of Iran. He emphasized the crucial role of providing comprehensive support, both material and spiritual, to those actively engaged in promoting basic science pursuits, regardless of the prevailing economic conditions.

Dr. Shadi Jamili, Director of YSF Office, highlighted the support given to the top scientifically ranked applicants in the YSF.

Director of YSF Office also underscored the significance of fostering a joint partnership between YSF and scientific associations to effectively organize the event, disseminate publications, and promote the YSF.

Furthermore, Dr. Jamili mentioned the progress made in promoting science across different provinces and requested the attending members to contribute to the dissemination of information about the YSF nationwide.
