Next Step to facilitate the patent application process

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, a meeting was held between Young Scientists Festival and Iran Patent Center (Kanoon IP) with the presence of Dr. Soroush Moaddab (YSF Executive Manager) and Ms. Hengameh Tashtzar (Secretary of Public Relations Committee).

At first, Dr. Moaddab – YSF Executive Manager- gave an explanation about the Zarin group, as well as the Young Scientists Festival, MineTech Accelerator and, Aanco Academy. He also added:  The activities of the international section of Young Scientists Festival, officially started simultaneously with the beginning of the fifth festival.

Then Dr. Amiri -the Head of the Iran Patent Center (Kanoon IP)- introduced this center:  Iran Patent Center established at 2015 as a comprehensive support program of the Vice President for Science and Technology in the field of invention. He also mentioned that currently the key missions of Iran Patent Center are: Supporting the registration of high-quality patents in reliable foreign authorities and, establishing the commercialization of innovative and invention-based achievements.

Considering the needs of the country to the education in the field of intellectual property, this center has provided the necessary infrastructure to offer quality services in this field.  In this regard, Iran Patent Center has tried to cover the country’s needs in this field by nurturing and developing professional teams to provide specialized intellectual property services and adopting proactive approaches. He further reminded:  The experts in this center have support of the patent applicants in the fields of material chemistry, medicine, equipment and, electronic; and also, a group in the “active monitoring” department identifies talented people with plans and in this regard, registrations are done in 2 sections: Commercialization evaluation and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) registration.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Iran Patent Center divided the areas of bilateral cooperation between the Young Scientists Festival and the Iran Patent Center into the following sections:

  • Judgment of designs,
  • Introduction of knowledge-based companies,
  • Holding joint webinars to use the facilities of the Young Scientists Festival,
  • Cooperation in the legal registration of inventions of festival ideas and,
  • The participation of the festival audience in the weekly training sessions on the basics of intellectual property of Iran Patent Center

While announcing the readiness for bilateral activities, Dr. Moaddab suggested setting up a codified program in order to advance the aforementioned goals.
