“International Collaboration Explored at Young Scientist Festival Meeting”

On August 28, 2023, a meeting was held between Dr. Tooraj Valinassab, Director General of Academic Relations and International Affairs at Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization and the International Committee of the Young Scientist Festival (YSF).

During the meeting, Dr. Moaddab, the YSF Executive Manager, addressed key points concerning the festival’s formation and the support of ideas in the field of basic sciences. The YSF, which commenced its activities in 2017 with the sponsorship of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation, aims to foster scientific advancement. Based on research conducted on similar festivals, it was concluded that science and technology foundations play a vital role in supporting scientific events. Consequently, the “Jamili Charity Foundation” was renamed the “Jamili Science and Technology Foundation.” Dr. Moaddab emphasized that the festival’s primary focus lies in supporting and commercializing ideas in basic sciences. Recognizing the significance of artificial intelligence in today’s world, the YSF also pays attention to this field.

Dr. Moaddab further provided insights into obtaining a license to carry out activities within the YSF international committee and the future prospects of this area. Noteworthy achievements in international field include the establishment of the “UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club,” the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and collaborative efforts with Tunisia, China, and Kazakhstan.

Taking into account consultation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), as well as the evolving nature of the international aspect of the festival, Dr. Moaddab requested guidance from Dr. Valinassab to enhance performance.

Dr. Valinassab, in turn, highlighted that the Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization encompasses 8,400 knowledge-based companies, 20 research institutes, 8,000 personnel, and 1,850 researchers and academic staff. Furthermore, the organization has successfully established the first and most advanced science and technology park under the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad’s supervision.

Subsequently, Dr. Valinassab proposed strategies for fostering relations between the YSF and international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). It was decided that solutions would be provided to facilitate communication between the YSF and these organizations.

Finally, it was agreed that the YSF would participate in technology events and meetings involving Uzbekistan and China. To further strengthen the collaboration between the Young Scientist Festival and the Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization, Dr. Valinassab would join the YSF International Committee, and a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed.
