Enhancing the regional and global presence of the Basic Science and Technology Club

The “opinion exchange meeting” between Samaneh Yazdani, the International Vice President of the UNESCOIran National Commission and Dr. Amir Saeed Karimi, the Vice President for Studies of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission, with members of the Secretariat of the Young Scientists Festival (YSF) and the UNESCO Basic Science and Technology Club was held on Sunday, February 28, 2024 at the place of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission.

Dr. Shadi Jamili, the Director of YSF Office, provided detailed explanations regarding the activities of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation, the Young Scientists Festival, and the UNESCO Basic Science and Technology Club.

She highlighted the collaborative potential of international cooperation while elucidating the procedures involved in the YSF international department and introducing the YSF international committee.

Additionally, she proposed the idea of organizing workshops and distributing certificates jointly as a conclusion.

In the meeting, Shabnam Asadi, the secretary of the development and innovation committee of the YSF, presented unique strategies implemented in past Festivals, such as addressing the impact of Covid-19 and incorporating artificial intelligence. Furthermore, she revealed that the environment sector has been chosen for the 8th YSF.

Similarly, she made a suggestion to establish a collaborative workspace for UNESCO-Iran National Clubs specializing in environmental fields, with a focus on the UNESCO Basic Science and Technology Club.

Furthermore, Amin Sadeghi, the secretary of the content and events committee of the YSF, highlighted the significance of organizing events aimed at educating the public. He specifically mentioned the events associated with the promotion of science conducted in collaboration with the UNESCO Basic Science and Technology Club.

Samaneh Yazdani, the International Vice President of the UNESCOIran National Commission, emphasized the significance of UNESCO’s focus on environmental initiatives, promoting public awareness, and empowering women.

As per the suggestion put forth by the International Vice President of the UNESCOIran National Commission, the focus of the UNESCO Basic Science and Technology Club’s endeavors should be on regional and international events, and that these programs must retain their overall applicability for the intended community to the greatest extent possible.

Consequently, she consented to convene the upcoming meetings in order to establish shared objectives and strategies.
