The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jamili Charity Foundation visited the laboratory centers of Shahid Beheshti University

 

On Tuesday, March31, 2020, Mr. Ebrahim Jamili, Head of the Jamili Charity Foundation, was a guest of Shahid Beheshti University, and visited some faculties and research institutes of Shahid Beheshti University, together with Dr. Sa’adollah  Nasiri  Gheidari, the President of Shahid Beheshti University and the accompanying delegation, and discussed with university colleagues about the projects that were being implemented in these centers to confront the Covid-19 (Corona) virus.

During this visit, first the building No. 3 of the Laser and Plasma Research Institute (thermal test building) was visited and then the mass spectrometry laboratory in the Research Institute of Plants and Medicinal Raw Materials was visited and Research Institute officials described the lab’s research into the production of drugs related to the coronavirus and the rapid detection of the virus.

Then, two laboratories were visited in the main building of the Laser and Plasma Research Institute. In the first laboratory, there was talk of making lamps that would produce waves that would be useful in destroying the coronavirus. In the next laboratory, two plans were proposed. The first design involved a device for processing fabrics used in coronavirus protective respirators, and the second plan was to produce oxygenated water generators for disinfection in production firms. Then, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Technology was visited. About ten members of the faculty were present, and presented thirteen plans that among them, the projects related to the production of rapid corona virus detection kits received more attention.

Then the Medical Science and Technology Research Institute was visited, and plan of monitoring wristbands of some vital signs with remote sensing capabilities was examined. At the end, a knowledge-based company located in the University Technology Units Development Center, which is active in the production of curcumin tablets, was visited.

Dr. Babak Shokri, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology, Dr. Peyman Salehi, Advisor to the President of the University, and Dr. Hojjat Rasouli, Advisor to the President and Director of the Department of Public Relations, accompanied the President of the University.

After the visit, a meeting was held in the office of the President of the University with the presence of Dr. Nasiri Gheidari, President of the University; Mr. Jamili, President of the Jamili Charity Foundation; Dr. Salehi, Advisor to the President; Dr. Rasouli, Advisor to the President and Director of Public Relations; and Dr. Shokri, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology, and considering the welcome of the head of Jamili Charity Foundation to some of the plans presented by the university, it was decided to sign a memorandum of cooperation between Shahid Beheshti University and Jamili Charity Foundation. At this meeting, the head of the foundation announced her readiness to support some of these plans to produce the product, and it was decided that after concluding a joint memorandum, the necessary action will be taken by the Jamili Charity Foundation to support a number of these projects until the product stage is reached.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Peyman Salehi is the chairman of the Jury of Chemistry section and Dr. Babak Shokri is the chairman of the jury of the physics section of the Young Scientists’ Festival which the fourth edition will be held in November, 2020.
