Meeting Between YSF and Educational Counselor of the Turkish Embassy

In line with expanding scientific and international cooperation, a consultative meeting was held between representatives of the Young Scientists Festival (YSF) and the Educational Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy. The session took place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with the aim of exploring opportunities for scientific, educational, and cultural collaboration between institutions and festivals supporting science in both countries. It provided a platform for both sides to discuss potential partnerships and propose initiatives to promote science and technology.

At the beginning of the meeting, after introducing the participants, Dr. Shadi Jamili, Head of the YSF office, presented an overview of the organizational structure of the event and highlighted the role of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation as a non-governmental organizer.

Following this, Dr. Fatemeh Mohammadipanah, Head of the International Committee, outlined the structure of the festival’s international activities. She explained that this segment of the festival involves inviting non-resident Iranians to join participating teams and promotes direct collaboration with international scientific institutions, festivals, and foundations that share similar values and objectives. She added that obtaining the license to establish the “UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club” marked a significant milestone in this initiative. Furthermore, she emphasized that working with prominent organizations such as TÜBİTAK in Turkey—recognized for their support of applied fundamental sciences—could help build meaningful connections between institutions and festivals focused on practical research in both countries.

The Turkish Educational Counsellor, Dr. Umut BAŞAR welcomed the proposals and, referring to the Teknofest scientific event, suggested introducing other Turkish scientific and international institutions to foster collaboration. He also recommended that festival members visit these centers to deepen mutual understanding.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Soroush Modab, Executive Manager of the Festival, stressed the importance of expanding cooperation and proposed organizing virtual events such as online workshops and webinars. He also expressed the festival’s readiness to host Turkish scientific and entrepreneurial delegations in Iran to facilitate future joint initiatives.

In summary, it was agreed to strengthen the interaction between the Young Scientists Festival and the cultural and scientific sectors of Turkey in Tehran, aiming to enhance scientific exchanges and foster collaboration among researchers, industry experts, and specialists in developing technologies based on fundamental sciences.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Umut BAŞAR , Educational Counselor of the Turkish Embassy; Dr. Shadi Jamili, Head of the YSF Secretariat; Mr. Reza Abbasi, Deputy Attaché; Dr. Fatemeh Mohammadipanah, Head of the International Committee; Dr. Soroush Moddab, Executive Manager of the Festival; and Ms. Shima Manzoumi, International Affairs Expert.
