The Iran National Science Foundation and the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation organized the first Young Scientists Festival to encourage creative youth and identify superior plans in the fields of basic sciences. The festival is held annually and aims to support scholars in basic sciences, esteem researchers and innovators, create a platform for scientific and technological cooperation, and generate interest and hope in creative youth. The selection process for the festival involved two stages of assessment based on scientific criteria and indices, with the final selection made by a jury. The judgment of ideas was based on several criteria, including innovation, environmental-friendliness, safety, cultural principles, usability, and economic added-value.
The Jamili Science and Technology Foundation held its 2nd Young Scientists Festival to promote the role of basic sciences in developing other fields of science and technology and creating new businesses. University experts from the Tehran University Science & Technology Park were involved in the festival’s Scientific Council and Jury, and the platform for receiving ideas was designed with the strongest security. Over 500 ideas were registered and evaluated in the fields of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, and Geology based on several criteria and assessment indicators. The festival aimed to prioritize ideas that could be both scientifically and commercially successful. A startup weekend was also held before the festival where 50 selected ideas were attended, and with the guidance of coaches and business experts, the team was formed. Eventually, ten teams were formed, which required training given to them by the association of specialist coaches of “Science and Technology Park”, to provide novel ideas and commercialization. At the end of the final day of the startup weekend and in the presence of the referees, the ideas were presented and contested to obtain credit and receive the award from the “Jamili Science and Technology Foundation.”
The 3rd Young Scientists Festival has begun with a new approach to creating technology-based businesses, innovation and the transformation of intellectual property into wealth with the participation of individual and team ideators. At the 3rd YSF, 283 ideas were sent to the jury committee, among which 26 selected scientific ideas, eight selected teams, and eight selected individual participants were honored to receive support from the “Jamili Science and Technology Foundation.” YSF will continue the path with those who have supported us in this big action.
The 4th Young Scientists Festival, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Supporter Foundation of the University of Tehran, continued the path towards supporting youth ideas, creating technology-based businesses, extending the culture of entrepreneurship to convert the intellectual property to wealth, was conducted in different fields of Basic Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Biology and Geology). Having received 430 ideas in the 4th YSF, 46 ideas and then 16 ideas were selected (including 12 idea-makers and 4 startups) benefiting from the sponsorship and support of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation. The cash prize in both sections was at a value of 8/300/000/000 Rials.

From these submissions, 18 has chosen as finalists, 50 were recognized as top applicants and 2 Academic Faculty Members were selected in the basic sciences in the field of geology and chemistry. The selected individuals will receive full support in converting their ideas into businesses.
The Sixth Young Scientists Festival was held in February 2023, aiming to convert new ideas into businesses and develop talent among young scientists worldwide. It received 342 registrations and provided an opportunity for researchers to present their work. The festival selected finalists and scientific elites from both ideator and start-up business sections and awarded gifts and research credits to two young professors.
