Press Conference of the 9th Young Scientists Festival

The press conference of the 9th Young Scientists Festival was held on Tuesday, December 9, with the presence of the Festival’s officials, at Shahid Soleimani Hall of the University of Tehran.

Prof. Mahmoud Kamarei, President of the Young Scientists Festival, stated that the Festival is organized around five main branches of basic sciences, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence), Geology, and Biology. He added that each year a special theme is also introduced alongside these branches, and this year the special focus is on the Intelligent Automation in Mining and Mineral Sectors.

Explaining the role of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation as the main organizer, he emphasized that the Foundation, as a private non‑profit entity with philanthropic motivation, has undertaken the responsibility of organizing the Festival and covering its expenses.

Later in the session, Dr. Shadi Jamili, Director of the Festival Secretariat, announced that this year ideas were received from all provinces across the country. In total, 657 applications were submitted to the Festival’s portal, of which 537 belonged to the idea section. She further noted that the Festival’s portal hosts more than 600 judges who manage the screening and evaluation process. This year, 293 judges from various specialized fields directly participated in the evaluation.

It should be noted that the closing ceremony of the 9th Young Scientists Festival will be held in parallel with Iran’s Research and Technology Week, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 14:00 to 19:00 at Allameh Amini Hall of the University of Tehran.
