Young Scientists Festival (known as YSF) has been annually held since 2017 with the support of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation to support the conversion of new ideas into business/products, support scholars, and strengthen the innovational and entrepreneurial spirit in young scientists. Considering the importance and role of basic sciences in developing other fields of science and technology, the festival is held in five areas of basic sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics & Computer Science, Biology, and Geology). YSF is held in two sections: Idea Section and Start-up Section.

Idea Section:

A team with practical and commercial ideas (originating from different fields of basic sciences).

Start-up Section:

Any new startup team with an active record of fewer than 42 months.

Criteria of the YSF ideas in both sections:

The idea should:

• Be at least partially innovative.
• Feasible to be produced and commercialized.
• Be environmentally-friendly.
• Create added-value.
• Be safe.
• Comply with sustainable development goals.
• Consider global needs.

Primary Objectives of YSF:

• Supporting scholars in the fields of basic sciences.
• Encouraging young inventors, innovators, researchers, and start-ups.
• Creating a platform for scientific and technological cooperation between academia and industry.
• Creating opportunities and networks for the future of young scientists.
