The Closing Ceremony of the 25th National Festival of Honoring Distinguished Technologists and Innovators

The 25th festival of honoring distinguished technologists and innovators took place on Sunday, December 16, 2024, in conjunction with Research Day. The event was held at the Aboureyhan Amphitheater of Shahid Beheshti University in the presence of Minister of Science, Dr. Hossein Simaei Sarraf.

In his address at the 25th ceremony, the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology emphasized the necessity of revising research policies. He stated: “Policy-making should be designed in a way that enables researchers to use their work to address societal challenges and solve real-world problems, rather than merely pursuing personal advancement.”

Dr. Peyman Salehi, Deputy Minister for Research, also took the opportunity to commend the distinguished researchers and scholarly journals present at the event. Dr. Salehi pointed out that 8,000 Iranian research papers have been indexed in the Scopus database.

During the ceremony, Dr. Mohammad Nabi Shahiki, Deputy Minister for Technology, reported that 250 innovators had been evaluated, stressing the importance of technology units contributing to technological development and the production of impactful products. He also outlined two key criteria for evaluating these units: the volume of exports and the degree to which the technology addresses the country’s needs. Dr. Shahiki announced that 11 top-performing technology units had been selected.

In addition, 39 distinguished researchers, 11 honored technologists, and 10 researchers were appreciated at the 25th festival. During the event, Eng. Ebrahim Jamili, President of YSF Policy-making Council, was also recognized for his support of researchers and technologists, receiving a commemorative statue in acknowledgment of his contributions.
