Brainstorming Meeting between the President of YSF Policy-making Council and the Secretary General of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission

Eng. Ebrahim Jamili, the President of YSF Policy-making Council, along with YSF Planning and Management Committee members, recently held a meeting with Dr. Fartousi, Secretary General of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission. The primary aim of this meeting was to introduce the festival’s accomplishments, discuss avenues for enhancing collaborative efforts, and explore ways to further strengthen the festival’s international engagement.

The meeting began with a comprehensive report on the achievements of the Young Scientists festival’s previous editions, underscoring its significant role in identifying and nurturing the creative potential of young talent, promoting scientific innovations, and advancing the field of basic sciences. Emphasis was placed on how the festival has contributed to shaping the future of science and technology through its recognition and support of emerging scientists. In addition, discussions were held on potential future collaborations under the auspices of the UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club. The meeting also explored the opportunities presented by international partnerships to elevate the scientific standing of the festival.

Dr. Fartousi expressed his appreciation for the remarkable work carried out by the Young Scientists Festival, noting that events like this are crucial for fostering global scientific cooperation. He stated: “Such festivals, by harnessing the international resources available through UNESCO, can play an instrumental role in expanding global scientific collaborations. UNESCO continuously supports initiatives that advance basic sciences and facilitate the creation of international scientific networks. The UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club offers a valuable platform for Iranian scientists to participate in international projects and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and technology across borders.”

Dr. Fartousi also highlighted the importance of fostering deeper connections between Iranian researchers and the global scientific community, emphasizing that UNESCO would leverage its resources to support festivals that actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the transfer of knowledge, and the enhancement of scientific diplomacy.
