A meeting took place on Monday, August 5, 2024, with Dr. Behrouz Abtahi, the Director of the International Scientific Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
The purpose of this gathering was to discuss international collaborations for the Young Scientists Festival, and we were honored to have the presence of Ms. Masoumeh Haghani, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Loans, International Organizations & Institutions Department, and Ms. Rosa Aghazadeh, Head of the Office of International Conferences and Institutions.
Dr. Shadi Jamali, Director of the YSF Secretariat, provided an overview of the festival’s past seven editions, including its operational programs. She also acknowledged the festival’s international activities, which commenced in 2021 after receiving authorization from the University of Tehran, and mentioned the establishment of the UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club.
Dr. Fatemeh Mohammadipanah, Head of the International Committee of the festival requested Dr. Abtahi to assist the YSF in providing information about international scientific conferences held in Iran and foreign delegations who may be visiting Tehran to discuss potential collaboration with the festival. Based on a proposal by Dr. Abtahi, it was decided to hold a meeting with the presence of Saint Petersburg Mining University deputies who will be travelling to Iran.
Furthermore, in consideration of the representation of the MSRT and the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs at the department of Science and Technology of BRICS, Dr. Mohammadipanah requested to invite a representative from the festival to participate in the events and meetings of the BRICS which are related to science and technology.
In the following, Dr. Abtahi proposed the organization of a joint webinar with IORA RCSTT on sustainable mining and a joint workshop with the “Inter-Islamic Science and Technology Network on Oceanography” (INOC) on new mining methods.
Ms. Haghani also introduced the scope of activities of the Islamic Development Bank. She suggested that YSF explore potential partnerships with this bank, outlining the proposed potential collaborations through a proposal.
