The Policy Council meeting for the 9th Young Scientists Festival was held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, with the presence of Dr. Hossein Simaei Sarraf, Iran’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, along with members of the Policy Council and a group of national scientific officials at the Ministry of Science.
A report on eight years of the festival was presented, highlighting key achievements, including the founding of UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club and the festival’s active role in organizing exhibitions and scientific events.
Mr. Ebrahim Jamili, President of the festival’s Policy Council, emphasized the importance of expanding international activities in the ninth year of the festival. Highlighting collaboration opportunities with UNESCO, he stated: “In this new phase, we aim for a stronger international presence, especially within UNESCO’s framework.” He also called supporting young innovators a great honor, expressing pride in the festival’s role in fostering the next generation’s scientific growth.
Professor Khosropanah, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, praised the efforts behind the Young Scientists Festival, calling it a key event for advancing the country’s scientific growth. He stressed the importance of supporting talented young generation and creating opportunities for their development.
In the final part of the meeting, Professor Mahmoud Kamarei, President of the Festival, outlined its main features: focus on basic sciences, collaboration with top universities, support for young talents, and encouragement of innovative business ideas. He noted that support for winners begins after the closing ceremony and continues through their scientific and practical development. He also mentioned that each year, a special theme is chosen based on national scientific and technological priorities.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Science praised Mr. Jamili’s efforts and called the Jamili Foundation’s role in organizing the festival valuable and commendable. He also described the festival as a platform for job creation and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
