Consultation with the “Kish International Campus, ”University of Tehran” in order to advance the international objectives of YSF

A meeting was held between the YSF and the Kish International Campus, University of Tehran on Saturday, 29th Oct.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Zaker Esfahani (the President of Kish International Campus, University of Tehran) introduced the Kish Campus: “University of Tehran has a high position among the organizations related to higher education in the country. In fact, if elements such as the history and reputation, distinguished and high-ranking professors along with distinguished students, the number of students, professors and staff, the value of qualifications in the country and abroad, the connection with executive bodies and interaction with the industrial, administrative and executive institutions and companies, the rich and well-equipped libraries and laboratories, the multitude of disciplines, and faculties and affiliated institutions are among the criteria to determine the credibility and importance of a university, there is no doubt that University of Tehran is considered among the best universities in the country, the reasons for which this university is referred to as the “mother university” and a “symbol of higher education”.

Kish International Campus was established as a subset of University of Tehran in 2007 in Kish Island. Based on its constitution, the university have set objectives including:

  • To train the specialized human resources required by the country according to international standards,
  • To expand higher education in free zones and use all the capacities of University of Tehran for internationalization,
  • To enter the international competition in order to provide educational and research services, and to attract Iranian and non-Iranian students,
  • To improve the scientific indicators of the university and to develop the frontiers of knowledge.

Currently, about 2,600 students are studying in Kish Campus in technical and engineering fields, social and behavioral sciences, basic sciences, arts and humanities, and until this year, about 2700 people have graduated from this campus.

In the following, Mr. Moaddab – the YSF executive manager – introduced the festival, how it supports the winners and accompanies the idea makers until the commercialization stage. He further mentioned the foundation name changing from “Jamili Charitable Foundation” into “Jamili Science and Technology Foundation”.

Then, Ms. Mohammadi Panah – the secretary of the international committee of YSF – called the establishment of the “UNESCO Basic Sciences and Technology Club” as well as the cooperation with the “ECO Scientific Foundation” as two significant international activities of the Young Scientists Festival.

At the end and to hold a permanent exhibition in order to display the achievements of the idea makers and also to establish the “Knowledge-based Council”, a bilateral MoU was decided to be signed.
